Savannah Guthrie and her family are still hopeful that their 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was abducted, will be found. The old lady was known for her deep connections with her local community in Tucson, Arizona. Not many of Nancy’s friends spoke about her disappearance. Now one of her friends addressed the situation and revealed how Nancy helped her when she had a breakdown.

Nancy Guthrie’s friend, Lauren Serpa, in an interview with Page Six, revealed how once she had a breakdown and was sitting under a tree, processing her feelings. Lauren remembered how Nancy came when she saw her sitting under the tree. Lauren had never met Nancy before but seeing her sit under that tree she decided to come over to see if she was fine. Nancy Guthrie’s friend, Lauren Serpa, revealed that she could relate to her situation as her own husband had died of a heart attack. Lauren remembered that Nancy had told her that when she felt overwhelmed, it was important to focus on breathing. Sharing how Nancy was kind and empathetic, Lauren said:

“She had a genuine concern for my situation. She ended up spending 25 minutes with me. The thing that she told me that for some reason meant the most to me and helped me then and still does today is when it becomes overwhelming, you have to remember to breathe.”

Nancy was last seen with her family on January 31, 2026, when her family had dropped her off at her house after dinner. Lauren did remember when her fiance died due to brain aneurysm, she sat under a tree crying. Serpa continued to believe that Nancy will be found and said that it is really important that it stays at the back of everyone’s minds about the case. She revealed that anyone could see something or they hear somebody say something, out of their eyesight. Well, no one has been arrested so far in Nancy’s abduction case. Various theories related to the case are only buzzing on social media. Nancy came and confronted, and in her words:

“They can report it. But, you know, if they’re not thinking about it, then they wouldn’t even think about anything that somebody would say. I met Nancy almost 12 years ago at the farmers’ market. My fiancé had died from a brain aneurysm. Having nobody to turn to. I decided to get out of the house and go to the farmers’ market to hopefully clear my head from my extreme depression for a while.”

Nancy Guthrie’s friend, Lauren Serpa, further opened up about her relationship with the old lady. Serpa revealed that since her friend, Nancy went missing, she has been sharing a lot of posts on the social media related to her disappearance. Lauren did not engage with the paps for many weeks until recent times. She spoke about how the public is losing interest in the case and said:

“Even in Tucson, where it happened, it’s starting to fizzle out, and I don’t want that to happen. It’s been 100 days, and people are starting not to forget, but not to think about it as much. People are starting to move on, basically. That’s what happens when it doesn’t affect their lives. So that’s why I’m trying to keep it in the forefront as much as possible.”
