Nandyala: The Sri Sangameswara Temple near Atmakur in Nandyala district has been submerged following a rise in the Krishna River backwaters due to increasing water levels in the Srisailam reservoir.
As the water level continued to rise and gradually surrounded the temple premises, priests performed special rituals to the Vepadaru Shivalinga.
Chief priest Telakapalli Raghurama Sharma offered a saree, turmeric, kumkum, and other sacred offerings to Gangamma Thalli, seeking the blessings of the river goddess.
With the Krishna waters completely covering the temple, the Vepadaru Shivalinga is expected to remain submerged for the next few days.
