Hyderabad: The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET-UG in paper and pen mode for 199 centres for 71,304 candidates in the state on Sunday. The attendance was placed at 97.64 per cent, with 73,024 candidates having registered.
Officials reported that the examination was largely smooth, with no major incidents in most districts in the state. A candidate in Nalgonda had a nasal bleed reportedly due to the summer heat. An answer sheet error was reported in Nalgonda and a biometric issue in Suryapet. Officials said these did not disrupt the overall conduct of the examination.
Nationwide, 22.79 lakh candidates took the test 551 cities on Sunday, in a single shift from 2 pm to 5 pm. Candidates were allowed to leave centres around 5.20 pm after invigilators completed verification procedures.
Students in Hyderabad found the paper easier compared to last year, though opinions varied across sections. Physics was widely described as tough and time-consuming, while Biology was considered more scoring.
“Most of the Physics section remained unanswered as it was difficult,” said Tejasvi from Kothapet, who appeared for the exam at Osmania University. “The paper was solvable. Biology is my favourite, so I focused on that. Physics and Chemistry required more time,” said Joyel K from Mallampet, Bachupally.
Some candidates flagged issues with seating arrangements. “The seating was uncomfortable, though facilities like air conditioning and drinking water were available,” said Sanjay S. Reddy.
Parents were seen waiting outside examination centres for hours. At Osmania University, many took shelter under trees and in park areas, resting, eating, and even sleeping while waiting for their children.
