NELLORE: Power infrastructure in Nellore district is set for a major upgrade, with installation of the first container substation and a dedicated 33 kV power supply infrastructure at the city’s APSRTC electric bus charging station.
Both the works are progressing rapidly, said Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) director (Technical & HRD) K. Guravaiah after inspecting the two sites on Wednesday.
Guravaiah reviewed with officials progress of the container substation being established in the Nellore Town division. He directed officials to complete the remaining electrical, civil, and allied works at the earliest. The power transformer has already been installed and the substation is expected to be commissioned soon.
The containerised substation, being developed with modern technology, is expected to strengthen the local power distribution network and reduce low-voltage problems and power interruptions, apart from meeting the anticipated growth in electricity demand.
Further, the APSPDCL director inspected ongoing works at the EV bus charging station being developed for APSRTC. He reviewed arrangements for providing a dedicated 33 kV power supply from the Ambapuram-Kothuru 220 kV substation to the charging facility. He directed officials to quickly establish the dedicated line and expedite civil works and other electrical infrastructure.
Guravaiah said development of adequate charging infrastructure in advance is crucial, as the number of electric buses is expected to increase further, giving impetus to an environment-friendly public transport.
Those present included superintending engineer P. Sudhakar, executive engineer (Technical) Altaf, Nellore Town division executive engineer M. Sridhar, Nellore Rural division executive engineer Prasad, DEE (Construction) Prasad, DEE Satish, AE Lakshmibai, and APSRTC officials.
