NELLORE: The Telugu Desam’s annual conclave, Mahanadu, will be held in Nellore district for the first time, generating excitement among party cadres. The three-day event is scheduled from May 27 to 29 and is expected to be organised on a large scale with lakhs of participants.
Senior leaders, including ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and P. Narayana, MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, MLC Beeda Ravichandra, and MLAs Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy, have begun scouting for a suitable venue.
A party team inspected locations in Kovur and Nellore Rural constituencies, including a 110-acre APIIC land parcel near Kovur on the national highway, the IFFCO Kisan SEZ near Rajupalem, and other sites along the highway. A final decision is expected shortly after reports are submitted to the party’s central leadership.
Narayana said nearly five lakh party workers and representatives are expected to attend and assured that the event would be organised successfully.
Ramanarayana Reddy described the conclave as a significant milestone for Nellore, calling it a matter of pride for local leaders and cadres. Leaders noted that this will be the first major party gathering after Nara Lokesh assumed charge as the party’s national executive president, adding significance to the event.
MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy described Mahanadu as a “festival of the Telugu people”, while party leaders expressed confidence that the event would leave a lasting impression on the district.
State spokesperson Kotamreddy Giridhar Reddy thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and party national general secretary Nara Lokesh for selecting Nellore as the venue. Waqf Board chairman S.K. Abdul Aziz termed it a proud moment for the district.
Party representatives said elaborate arrangements are being planned to ensure smooth transport, accommodation and other facilities, aiming to make it one of the largest political gatherings in the district’s history.
