New Lidl device costs just 6p per hour to run
As the colder months approach, many households are facing the challenge of drying clothes without racking up hefty bills from constant tumble dryer use.
Back in 2023, finance guru Martin Lewis labelled the tumble dryer a “demon appliance”, urging people to switch to a dehumidifier instead. While there is an upfront cost involved, dehumidifiers typically pay for themselves many times over, costing just pence per hour to run. This makes them considerably more economical than tumble dryers, with some models capable of drying a full load of washing in just a few hours.
Beyond saving money, dehumidifiers also help tackle moisture levels in your home, keeping mould and damp at bay while also easing allergy symptoms. From Sunday, September 27, Lidl will be stocking a TRONIC dehumidifier for £79.99. The appliance can extract up to 10 litres of water within 24 hours and features both a “dry laundry” setting and a standard dehumidifying option.
It boasts a 2.1 litre water tank, a removable and washable filter, and a handy window to monitor water levels. The machine also emits a “warning signal” once the tank is full.
Additional features include a foldable handle, overflow protection, and an automatic defrost function, along with a 180cm power cable and hose connection for continuous use.
With an energy consumption of 245W, running costs work out at roughly 6p per hour, and the device comes backed by a three-year warranty. TRONIC dehumidifiers will arrive in Lidl’s Middle Aisle this Sunday.
As with all Middle Aisle products, the dehumidifiers are subject to availability, with limited stock.
