Relationship expert Brigitte Zonta has been lined up to join the panel of experts of Married At First Sight Australia following the tragic death of Mel Schilling, according to reports.
Mel Schilling joined the show back in 2016 on the second series of the Australian version of the show and she also appeared the British version. The highly acclaimed relationship expert lost her battle to cancer and sadly passed away in March.
Brigitte, who is known as Dr Lurve and describes herself as “Australia’s no.1 relationship coach, will sit on the sofa alongside sexologist Alessandra Rampolla and John Aitken on the next season of the show.
According to The Sun, Brigitte’s Instagram says that she’s travelling and her social media has been swapped to private and it’s believed she has returned to Australia to start filming.
A TV insider told the publication: “No one can replace Mel, and that is not what they are asking Dr Lurve to do. She has her own voice, her own energy and her own way of connecting with people.
They added: “She can be warm and entertaining, but she can also cut through the excuses when somebody is not being honest.” The Mirror has reached out for a comment.
Back in May, the future of the British version of the show was hanging in the balance after it emerged that the show will not air on Channel 4, following a BBC Panorama investigation raised issues about the program.
Two women who appeared on the show have alleged that they were raped during filming by the men they had been picked to marry.
And on the back of the allegations along with other claims raised on the Panorama show about the welfare of the contestants taking part.
The series has already been filmed but will not air on the broadcasting channel in September.
A source informed the Mirror that all plans for the show had been paused.
Channel 4 removed all episodes from its streaming platform along with MAFS UK social and released a statement that the show was “produced under some of the most comprehensive and robust welfare protocols in the industry”.
It added that “most thorough background checks available, a Code of Conduct which clearly sets out behavioural standards, daily contributor check-ins with a specialist welfare team and access to additional support before, during and after filming.”
In April the channel said: “Channel 4 was presented with serious allegations of wrongdoing against a small number of past contributors, allegations that we understand those contributors have denied.”
