When it comes to the crossroads of sports and video games, Wednesday is a big day.

EA Sports released its highly-anticipated 2027 Madden cover — and Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was the star.

Entering his third season in the NFL (and with Chicago), Williams became the first Bears player to grace the cover of Madden.

It’s not a complete shock that EA Sports went in this direction, especially considering Williams has become one of the faces of the NFL after a breakout second season.

After going 5-12 as a rookie, the Bears surrounded Williams with a new coaching staff last season when they brought in highly-touted offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to be head coach. The result was an 11-6 record and numerous insane comebacks, the best of which came against the rival Packers in a Week 16 overtime victory.

Chicago won the NFC North title for the first time since 2020, and then took down the Packers in the first round of the playoffs with a 31-27 victory. Williams and the Bears looked poised to make the NFC title game, but were stunned by Matthew Stafford and the Rams in overtime.

While Williams’ inclusion on the cover isn’t shocking, the bigger question is: Did EA Sports get it right?

Not a chance!

Myles Garrett is the best defensive player in the NFL and arguably the best player overall. And now he’s been traded to Los Angeles — one of the biggest sports markets in the world — where the move instantly makes Garrett and the Rams the favorites to win the Super Bowl.

For those wanting and thinking the same way, we created the proper 2027 Madden cover.
