The new official poster for Ramayana has finally been unveiled with this one focusing primarily on the King of Ayodhya and father to Lord Rama, King Dashrath. This role is being played by Arun Govil, presenting his first look from the two-part epic. What further makes his presence more special for the fans on a deeper level is the fact that he once played the avatar of Lord Rama for the 1987 classic Ramayan television series.
Setting a standard for Lord Ramas depiction with his calm demeanour, poised stature and soothing smile, makes watching him take on the role of the father establishes a powerful connection between the actor, the fans, and the epic in itself. Revered by fans all around, his casting helps add a deep-rooted layer to the film’s ensemble.
The newly released poster comes along with a powerful caption with a punch of nostalgia, reading, “He once brought Ram to life for a generation. Now, he returns to the world of Ramayana as the King of Ayodhya. Arun Govil as King Dashrath.”
The poster shows Arun Govil in the new avatar seated on the throne, exuding his kingly presence. Ramayana is soon to release in theatres under the direction of Nitesh Tiwari and the production of Namit Malhotra. The lead actors for this epic include some top talents from the industry including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Rocking Star Yash as Ravana.
Ramayana is one of the most anticipated movies this year, with its release scheduled around the festival of Diwali. The collaborations on this project further extend to the 8-time Oscar-winning DNEG for the VFX, along with veteran music composer A.R. Rahman teaming up with the legendary Hans Zimmer to orchestrate the score.
Ramayana Part 1 will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam across India on November 5th, 2026, with the sequel targeting a Diwali release in 2027.
