NFL fans witnessed some big performances from rookies in Week 8. One of them is from Kansas City Chiefs running back Emmett Johnson during the 28-24 loss to the Denver Broncos. The league issued a request involving the 23-year-old on Tuesday.
He led the receiving corps despite being a backfield player. Johnson finished with five receptions on five targets for 128 yards and one touchdown. It was his first score of the season, along with 20 rushes for 77 yards. Johnson’s breakout game is a bright spot as Kansas City dropped its second straight game after starting the campaign 5-0.

Johnson is the team’s No. 161 pick in the fifth round after starring for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He plays mostly behind Kenneth Walker III but may have earned more targets, especially after showcasing his skill set as a receiver.

NFL Asks Fans To Vote For Award Involving Kansas City Chiefs Rookie
Johnson is one of four players vying for the Rookie of the Week award. The other finalists are the Las Vegas Raiders’ Mike Washington Jr., the Broncos’ Jonah Coleman and the Los Angeles Rams’ Wesley Bailey.
“Who should be the @pepsi Rookie of the Week for Week 8? Vote in the poll below!” the NFL wrote.
The league announces the winner every Thursday via its social media accounts. Fan voting closes on the same day at 11 a.m. ET.

The Kansas City Chiefs will play their next game at home on Sunday. They have a chance to snap their skid and get back to their winning ways versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It won’t be easy as the visitors are on a three-game winning streak, but fans at Arrowhead Stadium will cheer the team loudly. A road game follows in Week 10 versus the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
