Jay-Z is reportedly set to headline the Super Bowl LXI half-time show in February 2027.
The rapper, whose entertainment company Roc Nation oversees the NFL’s half-time entertainment, is said to have spent several weeks considering potential performers before deciding to take the stage himself.
According to reports, Jay-Z’s involvement was considered a “more compelling” option than Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, who had reportedly emerged as leading contenders.
However, neither the NFL nor Roc Nation has officially confirmed the decision.
Jay-Z has played a major role in selecting Super Bowl half-time performers since Roc Nation entered into a partnership with the NFL in 2019.
The agreement, reportedly worth $5million annually, gave the entertainment company responsibility for producing the halftime show and helping shape the league’s live entertainment strategy.
Roc Nation subsequently renewed its partnership with the NFL in 2024 for another five years.
When and where is Super Bowl 2027?
Super Bowl LXI is scheduled to take place on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The venue, which is home to the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, previously hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022.
That year’s half-time show featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar, with 50 Cent and also appearing.
The reported selection of Jay-Z follows controversy surrounding Bad Bunny’s halftime performance at Super Bowl LX in February 2026.
The Puerto Rican artist faced criticism from some conservative commentators over his decision to perform primarily in Spanish.
