Nicola Peltz Beckham has issued a sweet statement about her husband Brooklyn as the pair celebrated the anniversary of their engagement amid their ongoing feud with his parents
Nicola Peltz Beckham has taken to Instagram with a touching statement about her husband Brooklyn as they marked the six year anniversary of their engagement.
The actress and socialite wrote that he was “the kindest man I’ve ever met”. She re-posted photos from his birthday in March and added underneath: “I can’t believe we got engaged 6 years ago today. I feel like I’ve known you my whole life, you’re my best friend and my forever love wrapped in one.
“I love you with my whole heart. you’re the kindest man I’ve ever met and I’m so happy I get to do life with you. Thank you for being the magical you.”
Brooklyn wrote a post as well, saying: “6 years ago I asked my best friend to marry me x You are my girl, my beautiful wife, and my whole heart. Every day with you feels like the best adventure, and I still can’t believe I get to do life with you.
“You make everything brighter, funnier, sweeter, and more magical just by being you. I can’t wait to keep laughing, dreaming, and staying young with you forever. I love you more than words, Nicola xx.”
Nicola and Brooklyn got engaged in 2020, roughly eight months after they were thought to have started dating. Brooklyn revealed the news on Instagram as well, in July of that year. “Two weeks ago I asked my soulmate to marry me and she said yes,” he wrote. “I am the luckiest man in the world. I promise to be the best husband and the best daddy one day I love you baby xx”
At the time, Brooklyn’s mother Victoria wrote a tribute to the two of them. The former Spice Girl said: “The most exciting news!! We could not be happier that @brooklynbeckham and @nicolaannepeltz are getting married! Wishing you so much love and a lifetime of happiness We all love you both so much x.”
Nicola was equally as affectionate towards Victoria, commenting that she loved her and was “the luckiest girl”. But, fastforward to January this year and their relationship has significantly broken down.
A feud had been rumoured for months leading up Brooklyn’s January statement. It was first publicly acknowledged over social media, when the eldest Beckham child called his parents “controlling” and accused them of “trying to ruin” his relationship with Nicola. According to him, his mother had also backed out of making Nicola’s wedding dress – though others have claimed it was Nicola who didn’t want to wear a Victoria Beckham gown.
In a recent chat with The Wall Street Journal, Victoria also addressed the feud for the first time. She said she and her husband, David, “love our children so much” and have “always tried to be the best parents”.
David, meanwhile, has refused to speak about his feud with Brooklyn. When asked about the subject, he told Variety: “To be honest, I’m sorry to stop you there, but that’s a private matter. That’s the one thing that I don’t want to talk about.”
