HYDERABAD: Patient footfall at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) has risen sharply over the past month, with the hospital recording more than 5,000 outpatients a day, according to a release issued by the institute.
On October 5, Nims recorded 5,635 outpatient visits, 5,088 diagnostic investigations and 306 inpatient admissions.
Hospital authorities said the daily outpatient count, which earlier averaged around 3,500, had increased considerably, with 5,635 marking the highest single-day OP attendance recorded recently.
The number of patients undergoing diagnostic tests has also risen. On October 5, 5,088 patients underwent various investigations, while 306 were admitted for inpatient treatment.
Emergency admissions have also increased from around 50 a day earlier to between 80 and 90 patients daily, the hospital said.
Nims authorities attributed the rise in footfall to the availability of advanced medical facilities, specialist doctors and expanded services.
The hospital has also extended OP registration timings from the earlier 8 am-11 am window to 2 pm. Authorities said the extension, along with the availability of several investigation reports on the same day, had made services more convenient for patients.
The hospital said the increase in outpatient, inpatient, emergency and diagnostic services reflected growing reliance on Nims for tertiary healthcare.
