Nine sound recordist dies on family holiday in Bali

A Brisbane-based sound recordist who worked for Nine’s A Current Affair team has died in an accident while on holidays with his family in Bali.

Chris “Ando” Andersen was holidaying with his wife, young son and parents-in-law on the Indonesian island when the accident happened on Wednesday.

His death was confirmed by Nine chief executive Matt Stanton in an all-staff email on Thursday morning.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his wife Charlotte, young son Otis and his friends and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time,” Stanton said, adding that staff should “please look out for one another today”.

Fiona Dear, Nine’s executive director of news and current affairs, said in a statement that Andersen had been with A Current Affair for almost 18 years.

“His longevity at just one program is a testament to his talent and how much he was loved, trusted and valued,” she said.

“This loss will be a terrible shock to his many colleagues and friends across the industry who have worked alongside him over the years.”
