Visakhapatnam: There is likely to be no respite from the heat in Andhra Pradesh, with heatwave conditions forecast in 23 mandals across the state on Sunday.
Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority managing director Prakhar Jain advised the public to take necessary precautions against heatwaves, extreme temperatures and humid weather.
He said the affected mandals include Badangi, Bobbili, Dattirajeru, Mentada, Ramabhadrapuram and Vangara in Vizianagaram district; Balijipeta, Garugubilli, Gummalakshmipuram, Jiyyammavalasa, Komarada, Kurupam, Makkuva, Pachipenta, Parvathipuram, Salur, Seethanagaram and Veeraghattam in Parvathipuram Manyam district; G.K. Veedhi in Alluri Sitarama Raju district; and Chintoor, Kunavaram and Vararamachandrapuram in Eluru district.
On Saturday, the highest temperature of 44.8°C was recorded at Nandavaram in Kurnool district, followed by 44.2°C at Kadapa, 44°C at Rayadurg in Anantapur district and Allagadda in Nandyal district, and 43°C at Kambham in Prakasam district.
Jain said temperatures above 41°C were recorded in 172 mandals across 18 of the state’s 28 districts.
