North West, 13, defended her gothic style and piercings after being labelled ‘demonic’ during a TikTok livestream with mum Kim Kardashian

North West has defended her fashion choices after revealing that some people have labelled her “demonic” because of the way she dresses.

The 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West spoke out during a TikTok livestream with her mum, insisting people should not make assumptions about her beliefs based on her appearance.

North, who has become known for her bold looks, including black grills, facial piercings and chunky boots, told viewers: “I’m not demonic guys, stop saying I’m demonic. No, I’m not. Just because I like to dress this way, don’t judge a book by its cover.”

Kim, 45, suggested that her daughter’s grills and piercings could be behind some of the comments.

But North questioned why people associated her appearance with anything sinister, saying: “Yeah but I don’t know why you guys should put that with demonic because I don’t get that.”

The teenager also explained the thinking behind an all-white outfit she wore for her first performance at The Vic Theater in Chicago.

North described the look as a “gothic Lolita outfit” and said she had deliberately chosen white to make clear where she stood on her faith.

“I was like, if I’m gonna do my first show ever, I gotta come like an angel, all white. ‘Cause you guys know I’m not on that demon stuff. I believe in Jesus,” she said. “That’s how I came to show you guys I’m actually a light, not dark.”

Kim admitted she had not realised the meaning behind her daughter’s outfit, telling her: “I didn’t even know that symbolism. I didn’t know that that’s why you wanted to wear white.”

The SKIMS founder went on to reflect on how quickly people can form opinions about someone without knowing the full story.

“Isn’t it funny, or like not funny, but kind of crazy, when you see things and people say something about a narrative about your life and then it’s just so the opposite and they think they know and say it. It’s so crazy,” she said.

Kim also revealed that North’s interest in piercings and alternative fashion had started long before her parents’ separation, explaining that her daughter had wanted facial piercings from a very young age.

“When she was a baby, dropping her off at school, all she wanted was… her septum pierced or her eyebrow pierced,” Kim said.

“She would do like a double brow, just like in pre-K, going in with fake piercings.”

North was equally keen to shut down suggestions that her style was a reaction to her parents’ divorce.

“So you guys can’t say, where did the style came, is this style from the divorce? No, queen,” she said.

North has increasingly embraced her own distinctive look, experimenting with fashion and beauty as she grows up in the public eye. Her comments make clear that she wants people to see her style as a personal choice rather than a reflection of assumptions about her character or beliefs.
