Odisha Man Stabs Ex-Girlfriend’s Mother, Uncle Inside Police Station

Bhubaneswar: A violent attack allegedly stemming from a past relationship dispute left two persons critically injured inside a police station premises in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday evening, raising serious concerns over security within law enforcement facilities.

The incident took place inside Sahadevkhunta police station during a discussion reportedly convened to settle a dispute between a young woman and her former boyfriend, identified as Jatin Pradhan.

According to police sources, the woman had arrived at the police station along with her mother and maternal uncle for a compromise meeting with the accused. During the discussion, Jatin allegedly attacked the woman’s mother and uncle with a sharp weapon, triggering panic inside the police station premises.

Both the injured persons, who are siblings, sustained grievous injuries in the assault. They were initially admitted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after their condition reportedly deteriorated.

Following the attack, the accused allegedly attempted to flee the spot on a motorcycle. However, police personnel chased and apprehended him shortly afterwards.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are trying to ascertain the circumstances that led to the attack.

The incident has sparked concern locally as the assault reportedly occurred within the premises of a police station during an ongoing settlement discussion, raising questions over security arrangements and safety during dispute resolution proceedings.
