BHUBANESWAR, July 12: A man allegedly died after his wife struck him on the head with a mobile phone during a domestic altercation in Odisha’s Bolangir district, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place at Chimnibhati Pada under the jurisdiction of Bolangir Town Police Station.

According to police, the couple allegedly got into an argument at their residence, during which the woman is accused of hitting her husband on the head with a mobile phone, leaving him seriously injured.

The injured man was initially admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Bolangir. After receiving treatment, his condition reportedly improved and he was discharged from the hospital.

However, soon after returning home, his health deteriorated. Family members rushed him back to the same hospital, where he died during treatment on Saturday.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and investigators said the autopsy report will help determine the exact cause of death and whether it was directly linked to the alleged assault.

Reports said the police were questioning family members and other persons concerned as part of the investigation. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the post-mortem report and other evidence collected during the probe, officials said.
