Olivia Attwood has addressed her “brutal” break-up from Bradley Dack. The former Love Island star, 35, who has carved out a successful career as a presenter since her time on the ITV2 show, tied the knot with footballer Bradley in 2023 but they separated earlier this year.
Olivia, whose marriage to Bradley turned out to not be legally binding, began dating TOWIE star Pete Wicks in the wake of the breakup but has now candidly spoken out about her split and why she chose to end things.
She claimed that a girl had told her at an event that Bradley had been unfaithful to her and “gone back with a random girl” one night, prompting the Loose Women panellist to relinquish the relationship for good.
She said: “When you love someone, you’re happy to live in the grey area. But that day, everything suddenly lined up. There was nowhere left for him to hide.
“As soon as I knew it had happened to me, I couldn’t stay. The only person I would be cheating is myself. What happened didn’t break my heart – I broke my own heart by leaving, because the easiest thing to do would’ve been to stay.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan, she added: “Actually pulling the rug [from under our feet] and sticking to it is the hardest thing. It was f***ing brutal. It’s very easy for people to sit on their high horse and go, “Oh my God, you stayed with someone that cheated. But it’s way more complex than that.”
Olivia shared a post in March announcing the break-up She wrote: “I was in love with him and the potential I saw in him and wanted always to help him try to be the best version of himself – as I did for 10 years – covering up. Lying to my family and friends. Arranging therapy. Believing the grovelling apologies.
“I of course now feel like a f****** idiot. (Especially as more things come to the surface) I never wanted to say any of this.. I find the whole situation utterly humiliating.” She added: “But some of the disgusting things written about me in the last few weeks just blow my mind – and of course sadly it’s always fellow females doing the writing.
Towards the end of last year, Brad seemingly reached out to Olivia, as he posted an old video of The Royston Club singing their gut-wrenching song Cariad about pining for a lost love.
The lyrics include the lines.: “All of these pictures of you and I / Plastered on the hallways of my mind / But, now that it’s over, I let the air run out.
“Oh, but I still wake up with things to tell ya / That I dream of you no matter who I’m sleeping next to / Good God, I resent you for leaving / But I can’t pretend I don’t need you / Cariad, indulge in this sin / I need your delicate fingers tracing my outline again.”
Just prior to that, ex-Strictly Come Dancing star Pete, 37, spoke about the difficulties of “hard launching” his romance with Olivia with their fans on social media after the friends became lovers.
“The thought process was, ‘What would Liv like?’ We’d spoken about it and I thought, ‘Ah f**k it’, you know. Let’s go and do it. Obviously the first photo had to be of me and Liv, and all I really cared about was that I didn’t embarrass her,” he said.
Speaking on his Staying Relevant podcast with pal Sam Thompson, he added: “I would love to take full credit for [the music], but it was suggested by Instagram. But yeah, just simple. Just, ‘There we go’. Now it’s out it’s fine, we’re good.”
