Olympiacos has continued its dominance in Greek water polo, securing its 40th national championship while maintaining a perfect record throughout the season.

In the playoff finals, Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos, which reached the gold-medal games in the Greek Championships only for the second time.

Some anticipated an exciting best-of-five series after Panathinaikos pushed Olympiacos to the brink in the Greek Cup final, which Olympiacos won 13:12.

However, the national league finals did not deliver the thrill. Olympiacos opened the series with a 15:12 win over Panathinaikos. The second match saw a 20:14 victory for Olympiacos, showcasing its superiority.

Today, Olympiacos recorded a 17:12 win in the third game.

The third encounter quickly turned into a one-sided showdown. Panathinaikos took an early lead with a goal from Chalyvopoulos just ten seconds into the match. However, Olympiacos responded with an impressive 9:0 run, establishing a 9:1 lead after 14 minutes of play.

But, Panathinaikos didn’t surrender and halved the gap, trailing 8:12 heading into the final quarter. At the begining of the fouth period, the visitors further reduced the gap (9:12). Still, Olympiacos didn’t let Panathinaikos come closer and achieved a 17:12 win, with four goals from Konstantinos Kakaris and Evangelos Pouros.

In the 21st century, Olympiacos has only missed winning the Greek League twice: once in 2006, when Ethnikos triumphed, and again in 2012 when Vouliagmeni claimed the title.
