Tirupati: In a tragic road accident, one person was killed, and two others were seriously injured on Thursday morning on the Puthalapattu–Naidupeta National Highway near Agarala village in Chandragiri Mandal in the district. According to police, the accident occurred when a speeding Eicher vehicle ( truck) lost control, hit the road divider, entered the opposite lane, and collided with a car approaching from the opposite direction.
The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the death of Rajkumar (35), who was driving the car. The victim was said to be a resident of the Jeevakona area in Tirupati.
Upon receiving information about the mishap, Chandragiri police personnel rushed to the accident site and immediately launched rescue operations. The injured were extricated from the wreckage and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police identified the injured as Venkatesh Naidu and Nageswara Rao, the driver of the vehicle. Both sustained serious injuries in the crash and are currently undergoing treatment. Preliminary investigation by the police indicates that overspeeding was the primary cause of the accident. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the mishap.
