HYDERABAD: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has conducted a state-wide verification drive under ‘Operation Crackdown 3.0’ to trace, verify and monitor accused persons involved in cybercrime cases registered across its seven Cyber Crime Police Stations (CCPSs).
As part of the operation, 127 accused persons residing in Telangana were identified for verification. Officials conducted door-to-door verification to ascertain the present activities of the identified accused persons.
The operation resulted in the successful and verification of 103 accused persons. Efforts are continuing to locate the remaining 24 accused persons.
The operation focused on monitoring the current whereabouts, lifestyle, activities and accused of the accused persons, including assessing whether they continued to be involved in criminal activities. “The drive was carried out to find out the current whereabouts and activities of the identified accused persons,” a TGCSB officer on Wednesday said.
Analysis of 127 accused profiles revealed impersonation-related frauds were the most common offences, involving 48 accused persons followed by investment frauds with 27 and digital arrest scams with 11 accused persons. “Together, these three categories accounted for nearly 68% of all accused profiles, showing that they remain among the most frequently used methods by frauds,” director TGCSB Shikha Goel said.
