Oprah Winfrey has announced an intimate one night only show in Dublin this September and the chat show queen once revealed her ‘worst guest’ who she had to intervene on

Talk show host Oprah Winfrey has interviewed some of the biggest names on the planet from Michael Jackson, Prince Harry to Tom Cruise — but she once had to intervene on her “worst guest”.

The legendary chat show queen once claimed she had interviewed more than 37,000 people on The Oprah Winfrey Show from 1986 to 2011.

And the media mogul sent Irish fans into a frenzy last week after announcing that she will open up about her extraordinary career in front of a live audience at Dublin’s 3Arena this September.

Tickets for the intimate one night only experience go on presale on Wednesday (May 6) and one of the questions may be about her more awkward experiences with guests over the years.

However, she once opened up about the “worsts guests” after being asked by musician Harry Connick Jr: “Has anyone been particularly annoying, where you’re just like, ‘Gosh, I can’t wait for this person to leave?'”

She replied: “Well, I mean, the worst kind of guest–you’ve had this, too–is when you ask them question and they start talking about 1975, and then you think, ‘Oh, we are in 2017. How long is it going to take us to get to 2017?’ That’s the worst.

“The other worst guests, for me, are those who think whatever they are talking about is so spectacular, and you know it’s not. So, my go to word was always, ‘Wow.’ Like, ‘Wow! Really?’”

She then revealed that the “worst” guest was a lawyer who she had to intervene with during the interview.

Oprah, who is now 72, said: “I had a guest on who was a lawyer — I can’t remember the show — and he mentioned the book 29 times. That’s after I started counting.

“Every sentence started ‘In my book, in my book, and if you buy my book,’ and so finally, around third segment, I said, ‘We all know the name of the book. Audience, tell him the name of the book… so you don’t have to say the name of the book anymore.’

“After that we started to have conversations. Our intention was to tell the people, ‘You don’t have to sell your book. I will mention the book. I will take care of the book’.”

Up Close with Oprah Winfrey in the 3Arena meanwhile will take place on September 14 where the American will chat to David Meade.

Tickets vary from €25 (£21) to a more eye-popping €695 (£600) if you wanted a VIP experience.

Boss of Up Close, Norma Murphy, said Oprah had been her “inspirational compass” from a young age and she added: “I was mesmerised by her warmth, empathy, and energy. She treats vulnerability as strength and believes true success lies in lifting others. I am so grateful she chose us for her first live appearance!”
