OU Council To Push Governance Reforms

Hyderabad: The newly constituted Executive Council of Osmania University at its first meeting on Saturday resolved to strengthen governance systems and align policies with current academic needs. The meeting, 188th in the series, was the inaugural session of the apex body and was chaired by Vice Chancellor Kumar Molugaram.

Officials said the council focused on improving institutional systems, ensuring transparent administration and adopting forward-looking policies to support the university’s growth. “This is the start of a collaborative effort to strengthen governance and academic standards,” Molugaram told Deccan Chronicle, adding that decisions will focus on student needs and overall academic improvement.

The meeting was attended by senior government officials including higher education secretary Dr Yogita Rana, collegiate education commissioner Sridevasena and special secretary Venkatesh D., along with Registrar G. Naresh Reddy, faculty members, principals and educationists. Members discussed the need to balance administrative oversight with academic priorities, while addressing existing gaps in the system and planning for future requirements.

The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the support of government officials in the university’s administrative processes. The council concluded with an agreement on continuing reforms and coordinated efforts to strengthen governance and academic functioning at OU.
