Paddy McGuinness has signed up to host a star-studded charity gala alongside some of the biggest names in football and music. The TV favourite will take centre stage at Jamie Carragher’s Football For Change Gala in Liverpool next month, with Gabrielle, Tom Grennan and Mark Wright also joining the line-up.

The annual event, which has raised more than £1.5million to help disadvantaged young people since launching in 2021, will bring together 650 guests from the worlds of sport, showbiz and business.

Among those expected to attend are Steven Gerrard, Gary Neville, Alex Scott, Jason Manford, Natasha Hamilton and actor James Nelson-Joyce.

Nineties chart star Gabrielle will headline the evening, while singer-songwriter Grennan will perform an intimate acoustic set during dinner. Former TOWIE star and Heart Radio presenter Mark Wright will then take to the decks for a late-night afterparty.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher, who launched the charity alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Coady and others, said the event was about much more than celebrity entertainment.

He said: “We’re delighted to have such an incredible musical line-up for this year’s Football for Change gala, with Paddy McGuinness, Gabrielle, Tom Grennan and Mark Wright helping to make it a really special occasion.

“What makes the event so powerful, though, is bringing together people from different sectors – football, music and business – who share a passion for making a difference. By working together and supporting some truly great causes, we can create real opportunities for young people who need them most. At Football for Change, we want to keep scoring goals for young people and help them build a brighter future.”

The charity has already helped send more than 200 disadvantaged youngsters on educational and sporting trips abroad, while providing laptops to children from low-income families.

It has also supported more than 50 grassroots organisations, funded an education hub in Bootle and helped homeless young people in Glasgow find work and accommodation. Sir Rod Stewart is a patron of the charity, which also counts Jude Bellingham, Beth Mead and Jack Grealish among its supporters.

Global transport and logistics company DSV has signed up as headline partner for this year’s event, with executive vice president Surinder Dubro praising its work to break down barriers for young people.

The gala takes place at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena on Saturday, November 14.
