Padma Awards 2026: Mammootty R Madhavan Alka Yagnik and More Honoured By President Droupadi Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu conferred Padma Awards on 65 distinguished personalities during the second investiture ceremony held on Tuesday. The recipients were honoured for their contributions across a wide range of fields, including cinema, sports, science, public service and social work.

Among those honoured were veteran actors Mammootty and Gadde Babu Rajendra Prasad, singer Alka Yagnik, actor R. Madhavan, and the late Satish Shah, who was awarded posthumously. Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma was also among the recipients.

Mammootty, who was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, attended the ceremony with his family, including his son, actor Dulquer Salmaan. His wife, Sulfath and daughter Surumi were also present for the occasion. Satish Shah’s Padma Shri was accepted by his cousin on behalf of the late actor.

Singer Alka Yagnik, who has been dealing with health issues, was assisted while walking to receive the honour. After accepting the award, she was seen seeking blessings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She was honoured with the Padma Bhushan.

Assamese singer Pokhila Lekthepi was also among those recognised. Along with three other awardees from the state, her honour marked a notable representation for Assam at the ceremony.

This year, a total of 131 Padma Awards were announced, comprising five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri honours. The second ceremony honoured 65 recipients, following the first investiture ceremony held on May 25, where another group of awardees received their honours.
