YSRC to protest statewide over fuel price hike today

Opposition YSR Congress has called for statewide protests on Monday against the recent hike in petrol and diesel prices in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a teleconference with party leaders on Sunday, YSRC state coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said Andhra Pradesh has the highest fuel prices in the country. He pointed out that the hike has severely impacted farmers, transport operators, small traders, and middle-class families already suffering owing to rising living costs.

Sajjala underlined that the increase in fuel prices would trigger a rise in prices of essential commodities and deepen economic distress across the society.

He said following the directives of YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the party will organise demonstrations at all constituency headquarters. Party delegations will submit memorandums to district authorities protesting against the fuel price increase.

The YSRC state coordinator also reviewed the proposal of Election Commission to revise electoral rolls. He directed party cadres to strengthen booth-level operations and social media outreach.

Nellore police book history-sheeter under PD Act for murder, robbery

SPSR Nellore district police invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against a notorious history-sheeter involved in multiple criminal cases of serious nature, underscoring its zero-tolerance approach towards violent crime.

District SP Dr. Ajitha Vejendla said the action has been taken against 26-year-old Shaik Rasool of Bujabujanellore under Vedayapalem police station limits to curb his recurring criminal activities and strengthen public confidence in law and order.
