The Pirates minor-league system looks a lot different than it did this time last year. Several notable prospects graduated — Konnor Griffin, Bubba Chandler, Esmerlyn Valdez and Rafael Flores Jr. to name a few.
With Griffin’s graduation, a new top prospect has clearly emerged. Seth Hernandez, who was drafted by the Pirates with the sixth pick in the 2025 draft, is not only the best player in the organization but one of the top pitching prospects in the sport.

After Hernandez, there can be debate who follows. Outfielder Edward Florentino, third baseman Murf Gray and 2026 first-rounder Derek Curiel are all candidates to emerge as Pittsburgh’s second-best prospect.
Several minor-leaguers saw their prospect status soar this season. Others fell significantly. With another full season of minor-league baseball in the books, here’s Pittsburgh Baseball Now’s updated top 30 Pirates prospects.
