In one of the most unlikely feuds of 2026, Charli XCX called out cartoon character Peppa Pig, who had thrown shade towards her pal, Clairo

It was not one for the 2026 bingo card, but Peppa Pig has hit back at Charli XCX after the singer’s sweary comments. The Chains of Love singer, 33, said she would “f*** up” the beloved cartoon character.

Her brash outburst came after comments made by the character in Pitchfork as she rated a group of artists. Charli appeared to take offence after the Peppa character said she isn’t feeling American singer-songwriter Clairo, 27.

Peppa said: “I don’t know her,” with many spotting the subtle shade that mirrored Mariah Carey’s past comments about Jennifer Lopez. It led to Charli quickly jumping to the defence of her pal.

She text Clairo saying: “Let’s f*** her up.” And Clairo shared the response on her social media. The actions saw fans laying into the cartoon character in the comments section.

While there were a number of savage responses, including pictures of bacon, Clairo, whose real name is Claire Elizabeth Cottrill, decided enough was enough. She responded: “Ok that’s enoughhhhh lolllllllllll.”

Peppa responded to call the “beef” as “playground drama”. The character told Metro: “Peppa’s not one to comment on playground drama, although she has been spotted humming a few new tunes lately…”

Despite the reaction to Claire, Peppa admitted she wants to one day become the Notorious P.I.G., saying she has plans to take the music industry by storm. But she admitted that for now she is happy watching the likes of Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and Beyonce.

PinkPantheress, who Peppa had also praised, however, wasn’t accepting the comments. They said: “Ain’t s**t sweet until you put respect on Clairo.”

Fans quickly joked that now is the time for Clairo to release new music as the attention grows. Sadly for fans, she admitted she “didn’t have anything yet”.

Her last album, titled Charm, was released in 2024. Last year, the star wrapped up the tour for the album. She initially rose to fame in 2017 after releasing her track Pretty Girl. Since then, she has released three albums, including the Grammy-nominated 2024 effort, Charm.

Peppa, meanwhile, remains a huge star in kids’ TV. The cartoon character, who first hit the small screen in 2004, often entertains youngsters alongside her family – including new baby pig, Evie.

The ninth season of the television series began broadcasting on May 3, 2026. Storylines are continuing to be more poignant, with Peppa’s brother George being diagnosed as moderately deaf earlier in the year.

George and Peppa underwent testing for their hearing in an online episode with the help of an audiologist, played by Gladiators star Jodie Ounsley.

The audiologist tells headphone-wearing Peppa and George: “Every time that you hear a bleep, I would like you to put a block in the bucket.” While both pigs pass the first round of the bleep test, George stops placing blocks in the bucket once the beeps become quieter, while Peppa continues.
