Phillip Schofield’s voice has left people completely baffled as it was heard across a GP surgery discussing diabetes and sharing background information on the condition
Phillip Schofield left people suffering from a “jumpscare” after his voice was heard at a GP surgery. The former TV presenter was once one of Britain’s most in-demand stars, but just three years ago, the face of ITV stepped down from all his roles with the network.
Over the course of his career at ITV, Schofield, 64, was the face of This Morning, Dancing On Ice and The Cube, often appearing alongside Holly Willoughby, whom he once counted as his rock. But his world came crashing down in May 2023 when he stepped back from ITV.
His exit came after a fallout with Holly Willoughby, who was reportedly concerned her pal wasn’t being honest about a relationship. Phillip stepped back after admitting to having an affair with a runner on the show, more than three decades his junior. His relationship with the man in question was consensual.
Phillip later said the relationship was “unwise, but not illegal,” and stressed that it had ended. He admitted that he had “lied” to ITV, as well as his colleagues and agent, who had dropped him after 35 years.
Although Phillip has been absent from TV screens, his voice is currently being heard in GP surgeries, with radio presenter Sam Darlaston sharing a clip on social media.
In a video shared on Instagram, Sam was seen sitting in the reception area of his GP surgery, filming the TV screen. Schofield’s voice was heard discussing background information on diabetes and how the pancreas releases the right amount of insulin to allow glucose to reach cells throughout the body.
“If you have diabetes, this system doesn’t work,” Schofield added. Captioning his clip, Sam penned: “So that’s what Phillip Schofield is doing now?” Discussing the clip on the Embarrassing For No Reason podcast, Sam said: “I was sat in the doctors and they were playing a video about diabetes.
“I was like ‘wait a minute, I know that voice,'” before re-sharing the video clip. His co-presenter, Tatum McGreal, added: “That’s Phillip Schofield!” Sam went on to say: “Why is Phillip Schofield on TV? Has he recorded this since the scandals? Or is this an old video that my doctors is still carting out?”
Tatum commented: “I love the idea of like the NHS going ‘f**k the system, let’s book Phillip Schofield’, just going mental.” Sam went on to impersonate a possible calling: “I’ve got this nice little voiceover artist, actually, he’ll come in and do a job for us.”
However, one social media user commented that the same video also played at their GP surgery. It is not clear whether the video is part of a new line of work for Phillip or if it was recorded before he stepped back from all public roles.
While Phillip rarely speaks publicly now, earlier this month, he gave a rare interview, and despite his life now being extremely different, he says his life is free from drama. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said that he is “content and happy” with life away from telly screens. He said: “Life is really calm and drama-free now. I decided a while ago that I just wanted a quiet life with family, friends I can trust and my dog.
“Therefore, I keep my head down as much as possible. The past few years were, as you know, utterly brutal on so many levels, and I came to terms with the fact that there was no way back. I’ve got used to my new life, and I’m content with that and happy.”
The Mirror has approached a spokesperson for Phillip, as well as NHS England and Diabetes UK.
