Piers Morgan has defended himself and other A-listers who found their way onto the pitch as Arsenal lifted the Premier League trophy cup at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Piers Morgan has responded to fans who were left rather baffled when numerous celebrities were seen on the pitch at Selhurst Park when Arsenal lifted the Premier League trophy.

Arsenal was presented with the Premier League cup on Sunday after defeating Crystal Palace at their home turf in South London. The match saw the Gunners win 2-1 on the final day of the season and while the Eagles were disappointed, Arsenal fans couldn’t hold back their delight.

Jack Whitehall, EastEnders star Jake Wood, Line of Duty actor Adrian Dunbar, Piers and his sons Bertie, Stanley and Spencer were all seen at the match – with some of them sharing snaps on the pitch after the final whistle.

Piers took to Instagram to share various about the winning day, sharing snaps with his sons and footballers including Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Viktor Gyokeres and captain Martin Odegaard.

One fan responded to a photo of their celebrations, asking on X: “Why was Piers Morgan & his clan on the pitch at Selhurst Nowt worse than celebrity fans muscling in on things. Especially one who called for Arteta’s head on several occasions in the early years.”

Piers responded: “Maybe because I had the foresight to buy 4 tickets at the start of March when I had a feeling it might be a momentous day for the club I’ve supported for 55 years.

“As for Arteta, he proved me and a lot of people wrong, and I couldn’t be happier about it.”

Another commented that Piers was a “Tarquin” who used his wealth “to elbow out those who go every week”.

Piers responded: “Who did I elbow out, Kev? The tickets I bought were available to anyone and I paid full price. And I pay full price for 4 season tickets, go to every Arsenal game when I am in England, and watch every Arsenal game when abroad. That qualify me as a proper fan?”

When another fan questioned how he managed to get Declan Rice’s medal around his neck in one snap, he explained: “I didn’t pay for Declan to run over and put his winner’s medal around my neck for a souvenir pic, that’s true. But I was thrilled that he did.”
