Special teams from Mir Chowk police station on Saturday arrested Harish Kumar Singla, a Gurugram-based country sales manager with an import firm, for allegedly cheating people of ₹3 crore through a digital marketing scheme in Hyderabad by promising easy money. He was wanted in three cases registered at the Rein Bazaar, Mirchowk and Madannapet police stations.
Police said Harish lured people into the scheme by asking them to promote his employer company’s products, recruit new members and pay fees instead of earning through product sales. He allegedly targeted youth aged 18 to 24 years and housewives by offering work-from-home, part-time job opportunities. Harish had allegedly posted advertisement videos displaying a rich lifestyle on social media platforms to attract the innocent public.
Charminar DCP Kiran Khare said Harish conducted online and offline training sessions for agents, managers and FBOs working under him. They collected ₹199, ₹200 and ₹249 as admission or registration fees for training and promoted packages such as slow, medium and fast track at different rates.
Three of his associates, Mohd Akram, Mohd Nouman Raza and Mohd Aslam, who worked as local managers and agents at Karmanghat, were earlier arrested.
Police seized notebooks containing phone numbers and leads, videos of online training classes and website links allegedly used to collect public data. Around ₹3 crore in the accounts of the accused persons has been frozen, police said.
The accused was wanted under the Telangana Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishment Act, 1999, the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978 and the Information Technology Act.
The DCP said the operation was carried out under the supervision of Hyderabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar. He also advised the public to be extremely cautious and not to fall into the trap of multi-level marketing to get rich quickly.

Operation Crackdown 2.0: TGCSB Teams Visit 3,500 Cyber Fraudsters Across State
To prevent repeat offences, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has launched a statewide operation, Operation Crackdown 2.0, targeting previously arrested cybercrime suspects. Officials said that from 2024 until April 25, 3,567 financial fraudsters linked to 614 cases were shortlisted for intensive checks.
TGCSB Director Shikha Goel explained that the operation focused on physical verification, intelligence gathering on financial and digital activity, mapping of associates, ensuring compliance with bail conditions, and local enquiries to detect suspicious behaviour. Around 300 teams from the TGCSB and the law and order police carried out simultaneous visits to confirm the accused persons’ current residence, employment, and activities.
Since April 25, a total of 335 accused were verified, linked to 480 cases in Telangana and 1,233 cases across the country. Of these, 218 were traced, 115 remain untraced, and three were reported dead. Police found that one accused, Prasad Kumar (30), involved in a child sexual exploitation case registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station headquarters, is currently residing in Nepal. He was earlier employed as a chef in Secunderabad.
Goel said the data collected during the drive is being analysed for follow‑up action, and suspect sheets have been opened in cases indicating repeat involvement.
Suspicious bank account linked to cyber frauds
The Cyberabad cybercrime police uncovered a suspicious bank account allegedly used to route funds in multiple cyber fraud cases reported across the country. The breakthrough came during a detailed analysis of data from the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP).
The case, initially registered at KPHB police station, was transferred to the cybercrime police on the instructions of the Cyberabad commissioner of police and re‑registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.
Investigators said certain bank accounts repeatedly appeared in cyber fraud complaints from different states. One such account, held in a private bank branch in Kukatpally, emerged as a key suspect. The account functioned as a first‑layer receiving account, commonly used in fraud networks to collect money from victims before transferring it further to obscure the trail.
Police found that over ₹1.22 crore was transacted through the account, of which nearly ₹5 lakh was identified as disputed fraudulent transactions. The account holder, a resident of KPHB Colony, is suspected to have knowingly facilitated illegal transactions by allowing fraud proceeds to pass through his account. Investigators believe he acted in coordination with unidentified associates, aiding in the layering of funds to conceal their origins.
The account has been linked to at least three cybercrime complaints registered across India, indicating organised illegal activity. Further investigation is underway to trace other members of the network and establish the full extent of the fraud.
H‑FAST warns oil traders against adulteration
Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H‑FAST) officials conducted an awareness meeting with oil manufacturers, suppliers, and stakeholders in the city, cautioning them that any deviation from prescribed norms—including adulteration or the sale of loose oil—would invite stringent legal action.
The meeting, held under the supervision of task force DCP and H-FAST incharge Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, stressed the importance of strict adherence to food safety standards. He told participants that loose or unbranded oil sales posed serious health risks and violated food safety regulations.
Officials granted oil associates 15 days’ time to ensure full compliance with guidelines, including stopping the sale of loose oil and adopting proper packaging, branding, and labelling practices. The deadline was set to allow manufacturers and suppliers to align their operations with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) norms before enforcement begins.
Inspectors N. Ranjith Kumar Goud and M. Anjaiah, along with sub‑inspectors of H‑FAST, attended the meeting. All participants assured cooperation and pledged to comply with the instructions.
In a public advisory, H‑FAST urged consumers to purchase only branded and properly sealed edible oil from authorised sellers, to check product labels carefully, and to report suspected adulteration or illegal sales to the authorities.
