Warangal: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday said that the primary goal of the state government is to ensure the safety and well-being of every citizen and urged every individual to prioritise safety so they can return home securely to their loved ones.
Participating at an ‘Arrive Alive’ road safety awareness programme along with panchayat raj minister Danasari ‘Seethakka’ Anasuya on the outskirts of Incharla in Mulugu district on Sunday, Srinivas Reddy told people that while ambition was important, it should never come at the cost of one’s life. He cited a recent tragic incident in Khammam to illustrate how a moment of negligence can lead to lifelong grief for a family.
Earlier in the morning, the ministers visited Medaram and inspected ongoing developmental works after offering prayers at the Sammakka-Saralamma Temple here in Tadvai mandal. Minister Seethakka highlighted the increasing traffic in Mulugu district due to its growing prominence as a tourism hub.
With landmarks like Ramappa Temple, Laknavaram Lake and Bogatha Waterfalls attracting thousands, alongside heavy vehicular movement of sand and grain lorries on NH-163, she urged motorists to be extra vigilant. She strictly advised two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and car drivers to use seat belts, stating that personal responsibility is the best defense against accidents.
The awareness event was organised by the police department as part of the 99-day ‘Praja Palana — Pragathi Pranalika’ initiative. It was presided over by SP Sudheer Ramnath Kekan, and attended by collector T.S. Divakar and Ashwaraopeta MLA Jadi Adinarayana.
Collector Divakar said the road safety drive is a key component of the 99-day progress plan to bring government services and awareness closer to the people. Sudheer Ramanth Kekan reported that a special action plan is in place to curb road accidents and drug abuse in the district, noting a significant decline in mishaps compared to previous years.
