Kristoffer Ajer and Joao Cancelo each scored stunning goals in the first half of the UEFA Nations League clash between Portugal and Norway.
Portugal went into the game looking to make it four wins from four to start their Nations League title defence, knowing that a victory could be enough clinch their place in the quarter-finals.
But they fell behind in the 36th minute to a remarkable long-range goal from a very unlikely source as Brentford defender Ajer broke the deadlock.
After Portugal failed to deal with Martin Odegaard’s free-kick delivery, Ajer unleashed a first-time strike from the edge of the area with the outside of his boot, Diogo Costa left with no chance as the ball flew into the far corner.
Yet the lead was short-lived as Cancelo responded almost instantly.
Norway inexplicably allowed a long throw to bounce all the way to the Barcelona full-back, who met the ball with a thunderbolt from the edge of the area that rendered Norway goalkeeper Egil Selvik a mere spectator as parity was restored.
