Posillipo cemented 4th place before the playoffs in the Italian League.
The Naples-based side defeated Ortigia 12:9 in the penultimate, 25th, round of the regular season. Trieste, Posillipo’s only competitor for 4th place, lost to Brescia 12:19, and four points separate the rivals now.
The encounter between Posillipo and Ortigia was a close contest for 24 minutes. At the final break, the teams were tied at 7:7. Posillipo got off to a flying start in the fourth quarter, scoring four straight goals in four and a half minutes, building a big 11:7 lead. There was no way back for Ortigia. Mattiello and Rocchino contributed three goals to Posillipo’s 12:9 win, and Torrisi scored three for Ortigia.
