Pradhan, Lokesh Inspect Teaching Methods at PM SHRI School

Visakhapatnam: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and state education minister Nara Lokesh on Monday visited the PM SHRI AP Model School at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district to review the teaching practices, digital learning initiatives and school infrastructure.

The ministers were received by headmistress C. Parvathi, staff and students, who accorded them a ceremonial welcome. The ministers interacted with students and teachers.

Pradhan and Lokesh visited classrooms and observed a digital lesson on India’s physiographic divisions in a Class IX section, followed by a quiz for students. Pradhan interacted with students on their classroom learning, midday meals and academic interests, while Lokesh highlighted the introduction of bilingual textbooks in government schools.

They also inspected the Personalised Adaptive Learning (PAL) laboratory, where students demonstrated learning modules based on individual proficiency levels. Students presented 3D-printed nameplates as mementoes to the visiting dignitaries.

The ministers reviewed the ‘Jaadui Pitara’ learning material, student progress cards, assessment booklets and value-based education books. They also examined the ‘Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyarthi Mitra’ kit, which includes textbooks, notebooks, uniforms and other learning material provided by the state government. School authorities explained the use of pictorial and Oxford dictionaries for students.

Pradhan was also briefed on the education department’s LEAP dashboard, which monitors enrolment, attendance, learning outcomes, midday meals, inspections, dropout rates, app usage, smart kitchens and services for children with special needs. The ministers also viewed a presentation on the smart kitchen initiative being piloted in Kadapa district.

During the visit, they inspected the sports room, skill laboratory and library, where they interacted with students and reviewed a Python-based application developed by a student for homework and assessments. They were also briefed on pre-vocational education programmes and the ‘Kaushal Bodh’ curriculum.

MSME minister Kondapalli Srinivas, district collector Ramsundar Reddy, Samagra Shiksha state project director B. Srinivasa Rao, DEO Manikyam, MP Kalisetti Appalanaidu, Vizianagaram MLA Pusapati Aditi Vijayalakshmi, Cheepurupalli MLA Kala Venkatrao, TD district president and DCCB chairman Kimidi Nagarjuna and others were present.
