A pregnant former Married At First Sight star has shared that she was rushed to hospital earlier in the week after doctors noticed that her baby wasn’t moving as they expected
A pregnant Married At First Sight star had to stay in hospital for scans after her baby’s lack of movement worried doctors. Former bride Amy Christophers, 39, is expecting her child in September and kept fans updated online.
The star, who was on MAFS five years ago, took to Instagram on Monday, starting with a clip of her attacked to hospital machines while she lay in a bed. Over the top, she wrote: “First trip to triage. Just a precaustion as haven’t been feeling much movement. Growth scan showed all normal.”
She regularly posted to keep fans updated. In one post, she shared a pic of her lunch – an NHS made chicken sandwich – and jokingly wrote: “Even get lunch here. 10/10 service.”
Once Amy was released from hospital, she did a full update for her fans from the car. She said: I’m free! Everything is fine, I just went in for my growth scan and yeah, everything looks normal – 50th percentile or whatever that means.
“I don’t know what that means, but apparently it’s normal. They just wanted to monitor me because I had reduced movement. I still don’t even know what normal movements for me are, but anyway, they did that and everything is fine. That’s all from me really, and now I’ve got to go back home.”
She finished by saying that she was on her way home to “watch the footy”. Sports journalist Amy was on MAFS in 2021 and married Josh Christie on the show. Their relationship did not last amid explosive fights, not just between themselves but with other contestants, including Morag Chrichton, who accused Josh of DMing her before the show.
Since leaving the show, Amy reconnected with a childhood crush, Derren Pellow, who she re-met on Hinge. Their relationship went public in December. Just eight weeks later, they were announcing Amy’s pregnancy.
At the time, she told Heat Magazine that it was “unexpected” but something she had wanted since she was a child: “It was an unexpected, happy surprise.
“I’ve wanted to be a mum for as long as I can remember, even as a child when I’d blow out my candles on my birthday, I’d wish that a baby would be left on my doorstep so that I could look after it.”
Shortly before announcing her pregnancy, Amy opened up to Mirror about manifesting a baby with Derren, who is already a dad of two. She shared that she was “panicking” as she is set to turn 40 this year. “If I was panicking at 34 about not having kids, I’m definitely panicking now. I’m 40 this year!
“We actually did what TOWIE couple Sophie Kasaei and Jordan Brook did at Christmas – we wrapped up a baby blanket and some cute little baby booties to hopefully open next Christmas.”
