Sunderland 0-2 Brighton
Brighton overcame a second-half red card to beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light, with Maxim De Cuyper and Jaouen Hadjam scoring for the visitors.
The Seagulls played more than 30 minutes with 10 men after Pascal Struijk was sent off, but Sunderland failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage.
Both sides struck the woodwork during an entertaining first half. Wilson Isidor turned Enzo Le Fee’s cross against the post before Struijk headed Pascal Gross’ free-kick onto the upright shortly before the interval.
Brighton broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when Gross collected a quick throw-in and found De Cuyper, who took a touch before finishing past Robin Roefs.
However, the visitors suffered a setback four minutes later when Struijk was dismissed following a VAR review for denying Isidor a goalscoring opportunity.
Sunderland pushed forward in search of an equaliser, with Granit Xhaka testing Bart Verbruggen from a free-kick before Malick Fofana saw an effort comfortably saved.
Brighton defended well despite their numerical disadvantage and sealed the win in stoppage time.
Substitute Georginio Rutter released Hadjam down the left, and the defender marked his Premier League debut with a composed finish across Roefs to secure all three points.
Ipswich 2-1 Fulham
Ipswich scored twice in the closing minutes to secure a 2-1 win over Fulham at Portman Road, with Dara O’Shea heading home the winner in stoppage time.
Fulham had looked set for their first Premier League win under Alvaro Arbeloa after Ryan Sessegnon’s superb strike, but Gary O’Neil’s side produced a remarkable comeback.
The visitors enjoyed the better chances before half-time, with Christian Walton denying Sander Berge before Gonzalo Garcia dragged an effort wide.
Fulham eventually broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when Sessegnon collected a half-clearance from Issa Diop and fired a brilliant left-footed effort into the bottom corner.
Ipswich responded strongly, with Emersonn heading against the post before Bernd Leno produced an excellent save to deny Sindre Walle Egeli.
The hosts finally equalised in the 88th minute when Abdoul Ouattara controlled Calvin Bassey’s clearance and hammered a stunning long-range strike past Leno.
Three minutes later, Jack Clarke delivered a dangerous free-kick and O’Shea headed home at the near post to complete the turnaround.
