The sober living house that Presley Gerber was in when he died has been cleared of wrongdoing after the 27-year-old died of a suspected overdose
Resolutions Living, the rehab facility that Presley Gerber died at, was investigated following the 27-year-old’s death after a suspected overdose, but the inquiry found no violation.
Gerber died on 20 September, just a day after checking in to the Santa Monica sober living facility. Following his death, someone unconnected to the Gerber family made a formal complaint about Resolutions Living to the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). The complaint concerned whether the centre had taken in an individual who needed a “higher level of care” than Resolutions Living was able to provide.
The DHCS later told press that they “initiated a review” of the facility, “solely to determine whether the program was providing any services that would require a state license”.

Though they noted that they do not have a record of Resolutions Living being listed as a “licensed substance use disorder residential treatment facility”, public records show the program to “operate as a sober living environment” and that they had not identified any activities or program components that would require a license.
In California, sober living environments are not licensed by DHCS, as they are not permitted to provide treatment services that require a license. These treatments includes helping someone detox, as programs like Resolutions Living are only supposed to provide an environment in which an already sober person can maintain their sobriety. They might be subject to other permits and local requirements, however.
Gerber died last month after suffering a cardiac arrest. Investigators have suspected that the heart attack may have been caused by an overdose. The model had been open about his struggles over the years. He had struggled with his mental health as well as substance and drug abuse and had turned to many avenues to try and get help.
Before his death, Presley had posted about undergoing an Ibogaine treatment in Mexico. Ibogaine is a psychoactive indole alkaloid derived from the root bark of the Tabernanthe iboga shrub and is used experimentally for withdrawal symptoms and cravings for substances such as alcohol, opioids and cocaine.
In a tribute on social media, mum Cindy Crawford, dad Rande Gerber and sister Kaia Gerber shared a family statement which read: “We are beyond heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother. We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years.
“He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever. We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain. Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia.”
