Tragic Presley Gerber told friends he “so, so badly” wanted to be free from his addictions just before his death, it has been claimed.
In an attempt to kick his life-long battle against substance abuse and mental health, Presley had been staying at Resolutions Living’s luxury rehabilitation home in Santa Monica, California. The 27-year-old model, who worked with brands such as Celine, Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, and Pepsi, was found dead on Sunday.
Presley – who is the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber – went into cardiac arrest before emergency services arrived, new reports state. In a 911 dispatch audio call obtained by Page Six, an automated voice saying “cardiac arrest” and “overdose” is heard on the call.
“He had not been doing well,” a source told the publication. “He’s always suffered from a huge lack of self-esteem and had trouble accepting his real self and feeling fully confident in who he was as a person.
“Energetically, he didn’t seem like himself, it felt like he was lacking purpose in his life and hadn’t really found his place.” They added that he “didn’t really know where he wanted to go and what he wanted to do” before detailing how he was struggling with a number of things and “wanted so, so badly to be free of his addictions.”
Like his mother and younger sister Kaia, 25, Presley had pursued a career in modelling.
Kaia, who recently appeared in FX’s seductive thriller series The Shards, opened up about her brother’s struggles in a recent interview with Vogue.
Kaia was candid about the profound effect her brother’s difficulties had taken on her. “When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she said.
“I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing.”
During the same interview, the 25-year-old also opened up about her seemingly uneventful upbringing, having been raised by a supermodel A-lister along the shoreline in the picture-perfect, Barbie-dream enclave of Malibu.
“Unfortunately, all the things that people assume are true. I was in the ocean every day. My brother would go surfing and then walk up to school in his wetsuit with his surfboard, barefoot. You’re with the same kids from preschool to when you graduate,” she told the fashion bible.
Resolutions Living offers a “luxury home” option for care, described as a three-story home with ocean, city, and mountain views, located in a safe neighbourhood.
According to People police had received a call for cardiac arrest at 9:45am., and another dispatch revealed that medics were responding to an overdose at the same address.
Santa Monica Police Department shared in a statement to the outlet that officers had found Presley dead upon their arrival at the rehab facility.
The force detailed that it’s in the “early stages of investigating” the death of Presley, noting that “limited information is currently available.”
“A deputy medical examiner performed an examination today, and the cause and manner of death have been deferred, which means additional testing and/or studies were requested in order to make a determination,” the Department of Medical Examiners’ statement continued.
“Due to the ongoing death investigation, the DME cannot disclose what testing and/or studies were requested. Deferred cases can take a few months before a cause of death is determined.”
The statement added that Presley was “pronounced dead at 09:45 hours on September 20, 2026, by responding paramedics.”
“The Santa Monica Police Department is the investigating law enforcement agency,” the statement concluded. The official cause of the death hasn’t yet been determined by the Medical Examiner.
Prior to his tragic death, Presley had opened up about his struggles with mental health and addiction on his social media and in interviews.
Presley leaves behind his mother, Crawford, father, Rande Gerber, and sister, Kaia Gerber.
