
Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan directed the panchayat raj and rural development officials to take measures to prevent the onset of seasonal diseases, in the monsoon. He ordered the officials to strictly implement the ‘Friday-Dry Day’ programme in all the villages across the state. Officials should inspect villages and ensure that rainwater or sewage water does not get pooled, to avoid mosquito breeding. Rise in mosquitoes would lead to spread of infectious diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya.
He held a meeting with rural development principal secretary Kantilal Dande and Commissioner Krishna Teja and discussed steps taken for supply of drinking water, maintaining sanitation, and prevention of mosquitoes in the rural areas. He stressed the need for every gram panchayat to focus on public health and directed the officials to maintain adequate stock of bleaching powder, chlorine tablets. He also asked the officials to increase awareness among the public about proper disposal of solid waste. Scientific methods should be adopted in collection of trash daily.
He also directed the officials to do fogging regularly. He suggested that social media, WhatsApp groups, and mike announcements should be used to create awareness about sanitation among the public. He also ordered the officials to supervise the drinking water supply system and ensure there were no leakages in the pipelines.
