Princess Beatrice was spotted in snaps posted on Instagram showing her attending the 40th birthday party of an entrepreneur pal – just days before the wedding of her royal cousin Peter Phillips

Princess Beatrice has been spotted letting her hair down at a pal’s birthday party – as mystery surrounds her attendance at her royal cousin’s wedding this weekend.

The mum-of-two has appeared in several Instagram snaps posted by her pal and Juliet Wine founder Lauren De Niro Pipher, who recently turned 40. The party took place in Italy at the La Posta Vecchia hotel in Palo Laziale, Rome, and the photos show a large group of partygoers enjoying celebrations.

In one snap, Beatrice can be seen posing with a group of other women in a Vampire’s Wife dress, while others show her in a floral Zimmerman dress, dancing on a table with pals.

De Niro Pipher wrote on Instagram: “Friends joined from five countries. Some knew each other, many didn’t. No drama, no early mornings, barely any phones except to capture moments. Just presence, great wine, pasta at every meal, and more laughter than I can account for.

“I planned it all, and yet I felt like a guest at my own party. It was more special and FUN that I could’ve imagined, and I will cherish these days and the people who were able to join me for the next 40 years.”

Beatrice has been lying low in recent months following the release of the Epstein files, which shed new light on her parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson and their association with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

And it is unclear whether she or younger sister Princess Eugenie, who is pregnant with her third child, will attend their cousin Peter Phillips’ wedding on Saturday.

Peter, a son of Princess Anne and a nephew of the King, is set to tie the knot with NHS nurse Harriet Sperling in Gloucestershire. Many senior royals, including the King and Queen and Prince and Princess of Wales, are expected to attend.

If Beatrice and Eugenie do attend, it would be the first time they have been seen with their royal relatives since the release of the Epstein files in January.

A source previously said that Beatrice and Eugenie would “never want to overshadow the bride and groom’s happy day”, and are still undecided if they will attend the private nuptials. The source added that their attendance was “never concrete”.

Mr Phillips, 48 is 19th in line to the throne and was previously married to Autumn Kelly, with whom he has two daughters, Isla and Savannah. He also dated long-term partner Lindsay Wallace before they split in 2024, and he later found love with Harriet, an NHS paediatric nurse, who has a teenage daughter called Georgia.

The summer wedding will take place on Saturday in a private ceremony at All Saints Church, Kemble in Cirencester. They first made their debut as a couple in the summer of 2024 when they both appeared together at the Badminton Horse Trials, where Harriet mingled with Anne, sister-in-law to be Zara, as well as Queen Camilla.

Last June, they appeared at Royal Ascot together, where Harriet, who has also previously been married, made her debut in one of the carriages during the royal procession – with the move being seen as a significant sign of her moving into the royal fold.

Just weeks later, the pair announced their engagement after Peter proposed with a stunning diamond ring, designed by the same jeweller who made the late Queen’s engagement ring.

Peter married his first wife, Autumn, back in May 2008 in a grand ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, with guests including the late Queen and Prince Philip as well as his cousin Prince Harry. Although Prince William was unable to make it, the Princess of Wales was invited, despite being unmarried at the time – and it is believed the wedding marked the first time she met the late Queen.
