Pro Recco defeated Brescia for the second time in two days to take a 2:0 lead in the final of the Italian League (best of five).
Yesterday, the defending champion recorded a 12:8 win. This evening, five goals separated the rivals. Recco made a new step towards the title with a 17:12 victory.
Pro Recco got off to a strong start in the second game, establishing a 4:0 lead within the first eight minutes. For the next 24 minutes, Recco’s lead remained secure, never falling below three goals. In the second quarter, Brescia finally managed to exploit some gaps in the hosts’ defense, with Guerrato scoring just 16 seconds into the period to make it 1:4. The visitors netted five goals in this quarter, but Recco quickly responded each time. By halftime, the Champions League silver medalists held a 9:5 advantage.
Buric opened the second half with a goal for a five-goal margin, 10:5. In the rest of the match, Recco built a 6-goal lead three times (14:8, 15:9, and 16:10).
Eleven players of Pro Recco got on the scoresheet, with Giacomo Cannella contributing four goals to a 17:12 win.
The next, and maybe the last, game of the season will take place in Brescia on Monday.
