Hell’s Kitchen star Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana have six children together but if you think they have all been born into a life of privilege, then think again!

Gordon Ramsay says the most important thing he has ever taught his children has nothing to do with cooking.

The beloved chef and wife Tana have brought six kids into the world since marrying in 1996. They first welcomed Megan, 27, before introducing 26-year-old twins Holly and Jack. They soon added to their brood with Matilda, 24, and later shared Oscar, six, and Jesse, two.

Their offspring have all carved out impressive careers, with most choosing paths away from their father’s restaurant empire. The celebrity chef is known for taking no nonsense on Kitchen Nightmares and Hell’s Kitchen and it turns out he is also pretty strict at home too. He’s now detailed the most vital thing he has taught them.

“The one thing I’ve taught them all, brilliantly, are manners,” he told Fox News. “The most important thing in life, but they cost zero.”

Gordon doesn’t appear to be bothered that his kids haven’t followed him into the kitchen and spoke of his pride at his family’s very different career paths.

“Jack’s a Royal Marine commando, off defending the country in some of the most extreme conditions,” he previously told People. “Megan’s an incredible police officer. Holly’s gone into fashion. Tilly’s studying at university for her degree. Tana and I came from a family with no degrees.”

If his offspring think they’ll be sitting back waiting for hand outs, forget it. Gordon is worth an estimated £181million, according to wealth website Celebrity Net Worth, but he won’t be leaving it to his kids. Speaking to the Telegraph in 2017, the TV loudmouth revealed that his children have to make their own way in life.

He said: “It’s definitely not going to them, and that’s not in a mean way, it’s to not spoil them. The only thing I’ve agreed with Tana is that they get a 25% deposit on a flat, but not the whole flat.” He added that he’s never really been “turned on about the money”, and that has been reflective in the way he has raised his children.

Gordon is very strict when it comes to sharing his wealth with his kids. He doesn’t hand out money freely, but instead there are strict limits. He previously said: “Meg’s at university and has a budget of £100 a week; the others get about £50 a week and they have to pay for their own phones and their bus fare.

“The earlier you give them that responsibility to save for their own trainers and jeans, the better.” The kids also had to do housework for their pocket money, including making sure they tidy up after each dinner.

He added: “It’s important they help set and clear the tables, it’s important they cook, it’s important they do their homework.”

Gordon admits some remorse about how extensively his relentless career stopped him from spending time with his children and pledges to treasure the moments he has with Oscar and Jesse. “I think I’ll make more time for Oscar and Jesse,” he revealed.

“Just psychologically, I want to make more time for them because I don’t want them to say, ‘You missed my first day of school, you missed my play, you missed my football match’.”
