Karimnagar: Welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar has demanded that BRS leader Koppula Eashwar quit politics if it is proven that government land was used for the farmhouses held by BRS leaders K. Chandrashekhar Rao, T. Harish Rao, K.T. Rama Rao and others.
Speaking to the media at Dharmaram on Thursday, the minister said legal action would be taken against such BRS leaders if evidence surfaced that they occupied government land.
Laxman Kumar alleged that the BRS was anti-Dalit and criticised KCR and Eashwar for not responding to the incident of purification with turmeric water at the Erravalli farmhouse after a Dalit protest.
He urged BRS SC cell leaders to put pressure on KCR to apologise for the incident.
He said that during KCR’s tenure as chief minister, BRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao had not ordered a review of the attacks on Dalits reported in the state after 2013. “Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had recently held a high-level meeting on SC and ST atrocity cases, he noted.
On the occupation of assigned lands in Dharmaram mandal, Laxman Kumar said some people had illegally purchased lands assigned to the poor and were occupying them.
The assigned lands under occupation would be taken over after an inquiry and subsequently distributed to the poor.
He said the inquiry into lands in survey number 676 was continuing.
Officials were examining as to when occupancy rights certificates (ORCs) were issued, how many people had Inam rights and how prohibited land had been converted into patta land.
The minister said some people were trying to acquire the lands by approaching the court and assured the people that steps would be taken to return the lands to the poor.
He also said house sites would be provided to eligible poor people by making plots out of lands at Jakkanapalli etc.
Irrespective of political and caste affiliations, all deserving people would be provided house sites through a draw of lots.
Laxman Kumar said an ATC (ITI) would be established at Erraguntapalli in Dharmaram mandal and that labour minister G. Vivek would lay the foundation for the works.
