Former BBC Radio 1 broadcaster and DJ Tim Westwood has today appeared in court after being charged with two more sex offences, dating back to the Nineties and 2004

Radio DJ Tim Westwood has appeared in court after being charged with two additional sex offences, dating back to 1991 and 2004. Westwood, 69, is charged with indecently assaulting a teenage girl aged 16 or 17 in Hammersmith and Fulham, west London, in 1991.

He is also accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman in Wandsworth, south London, in May 2004. Court officials today said that the former BBC Radio 1 and Capital Xtra DJ has indicated that he would plead not guilty to the charges during an appearance in the dock at Westminster Magistrates Court.

Westwood, of Fitzrovia, in London’s West End, was conditionally bailed until a hearing at Southwark Crown Court on November 12. He was charged in October of last year with offences against seven women.

He denies the charges. Westwood is also accused of four indecent assault charges in the 1989s in London, as well as three indecent assaults while at the BBC in the 1990s.

He also faces allegations of raping a woman in a hotel in 1996. He is further accused of two indecent assaults and one count of rape from the early 2000s at a London address, and two counts of rape at a London address in the 2010s.

He is also alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman at a nightclub in Stroud, Gloucestershire, in 2010. Westwood has entered not guilty pleas to all counts and is due to face trial at Southwark Crown Court in January.

Westwood now stands accused of 17 charges, involving nine women. At the time of announcing Westwood was due to appear at magistrates’ court, Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, from the Metropolitan Police Service, said: “The women who have made reports have placed their trust in us, and we remain committed to providing them with all available support.

“Independent support is also available through Rape Crisis via its 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line.” Mr Westwood “strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour.”

He previously said: “It’s all false allegations.” Police previously said that Westwood had allegedly indecently assaulted a 17-year-old girl in Fulham, west London, in 1983. He also faces allegations of indecently assaulting a woman in her 20s in the Vauxhall area of London in 1986.

Westwood stepped down from his programme on Capital Xtra in April 2022. He also left Radio 1 and Radio 1 Xtra in 2013 – almost two decades after he joined the BBC.

He also presented the MTV UK programme, Pimp My Ride UK, which aired for three seasons between 2005 and 2007.
