Rain to Ease Telangana Heat from May 5

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday forecast rainfall and thunderstorms across Telangana between Tuesday and May 8, with a likely drop in the intense temperature during the prevailing heatwave.

According to IMD Hyderabad, the maximum temperature was expected to fall by up to 3°C over the three days, though they will remain between 41°C and 44°C in most districts for the next 48 hours.

Temperatures are likely to decline to between 36°C and 40°C on May 6 and 7 across districts.

The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning for isolated places in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal and Hanamkonda districts. A thunderstorm alert with lightning and gusty winds has been issued for all districts on May 7. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places till May 9, the bulletin said.

Balkonda in Nizamabad district recorded the highest temperature of 45.8°C on Sunday.

Other high readings included Mallapur (Jagityal) at 45.7°C, Palakurthy (Peddapalli) at 45.4°C, Bela (Adilabad) at 45.3°C, Kerameri (Kumuram Bheem) at 45.2°C and Bheemaram (Mancherial) at 45.1°C.
