‘A divine spiritual icon’
On Wednesday, Rajinikanth spoke warmly about Subbulakshmi, the celebrated singer and Bharat Ratna recipient, describing her as a divine spiritual icon. The Coolie star also expressed his enthusiasm for the multilingual biopic, drawing a comparison between the music being composed by Anirudh Ravichander and the timeless score of Sankarabharanam. Rajinikanth, a champion of cinema
Rajinikanth has often publicly acknowledged filmmakers and performers whose work has impressed him. His words of appreciation can bring additional attention to a project, making his endorsement particularly encouraging for a team taking on the challenge of bringing a cultural icon’s life to the screen.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s own film, Jailer 2, directed by Nelson and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, has opened in theatres today, giving fans another reason to celebrate the superstar’s latest cinematic outing.
Rashmika, meanwhile, has been preparing extensively for her portrayal of Subbulakshmi. Playing a figure of such stature is a considerable responsibility, and the actor has reportedly begun by researching the singer’s life and musical legacy. She has also spoken with members of Subbulakshmi’s family to gain a deeper understanding of the person behind the public image.
From her gestures and mannerisms to her gentle stage presence, Rashmika is studying the finer details that defined the legendary vocalist. With the biopic still awaiting production, audiences will be watching closely to see how she brings Subbulakshmi’s life and legacy to the screen.
