The Los Angeles Rams were busy on Tuesday, making five total roster moves ahead of Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders. The most notable move was the decision to release punt returner and wide receiver Alex Bachman from the 53-man roster.
Bachman replaced Xavier Smith after he was waived, but he hasn’t exactly been an upgrade as a return specialist. He’s returned nine punts for 47 yards and 13 kickoffs for 298 yards, struggling to make defenders miss and pick up yardage.

To take his place on the active roster, the Rams signed Cam Lampkin from the practice squad. Lampkin has been promoted from the practice squad twice but will now be a member of the 53-man roster. Nyzier Fourqurean was signed back to the practice squad after being released last week and running back Dean Connors was placed on injured reserve.
Finally, Linebacker Garrett Nelson was released from the practice squad.
The Rams are doing their best to figure out special teams, and most of these moves are related to that. Connors got a small opportunity to return kickoffs but is now out with a broken hand. Nelson was also a special teams addition when the Rams signed him, but he’s now out of the picture after being cut.

Lampkin provides good cornerback depth and he could also contribute on special teams. Fourquarean is unlikely to help out much unless there are a few injuries at cornerback.
