It’s been a week since Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua broke his silence after he was accused of biting a woman on New Year’s Eve, stating that it was a moment for him “to learn from.”
His teammate Quentin Lake appeared on The Arena: Gridiron and said he’s really enjoyed seeing Nacua grow and take accountability for his actions.
“When a guy goes up there, and the first thing he does is be accountable, you’re like ‘I respect that,” Lake said. “Life happens, there’s situations that you might put yourself in that might be unfortunate in this and that, but if you can learn from them, and move on, and grow.”
During the offseason, Nacua has been at the center of attention after he was sued this past March for allegedly biting a woman on New Year’s Eve, which was followed up by his making anti-Semitic remarks.
In April, Nacua voluntarily checked into rehab, and on May 11 the charges against him ended up being dropped.
Since arriving back with the Rams, Nacua has been regularly seeing a Rams therapist and has admitted that it is okay to seek help. Lake said he’s enjoyed seeing his teammate grow from this moment.
“He looks like he’s in a really good spot,” Lake said. “…He’s one of the most selfless, amazing human beings you’ll ever meet. If you really get to talk to him. Like he cares a lot about other people.”
The Rams will be relying heavily on Nacua to learn from his past mistakes as they have legitimate aspirations to win the Super Bowl this year.
Since Nacua’s arrival in 2023, he’s been the team’s leading receiver, including two seasons [2023 and 2025] where he had over 1,000 yards.
“As somebody that is in his corner that is going to support him no matter what, that’s all you wanna see, is the growth and the accountability, coming from a guy who’s a fantastic player.”
